Computers along with Internet access are available to students of St. Margaret Mary Alacoque School as ameans of aquisition of knowledge. All users are expected to take care of the computer hardware and abide by the generally accepted rules of network etiquette.
NO STUDENT WILL BE ALI,OWED TO ACCESS THE INTERNET UNLESS A PROPERLY SIGNIED CONTRACT IS ON FILE AT SCHOOL. Any parent or guardian who prefers to fuither restrict internet usage for children in their family should note this on the restrictions section of the contract on the second page. The use of the Internet is a privilege, not a right, and inappropriate use will result in a cancellation of this privilege for a specified amount of
time. Please read and discuss this policy with your children. As with any privilege, responsibility is implied. Therefore,
the school will:
o provide superyision for the use of the Intemet at school.
o provide guidelines to students on acceptable use of the Internet.
o acquire a written aceptance of the AUP from each student and parent.
the students will:
o access the Internet only under the supervision of an authorized adult supervisor.
o use the Internet as a resource for acquisition of information related to school assigments.
o understand that any inappropriate use of the Internet or equipment will result in disciplinary action (outlined in student handbook) and possible suspension/revocation of access privileges.
o know that inappropriate use includes, but is not limited to:
– displaying or wilifully obtaining offensive messages or pictures
– using obscene language
– harassing, insulting, or attacking another person
– violating copyright laws
– trespassing in another person’s folder, work, or files
– damaging computers, computer systems, or computer networks
– intentionally wasting limited resources
– rough handling of keyboard, mouse, CD ROM, or other hardware.
o sign the AUP promising to abide by all its guidelines.

o review the AUP with their children and support all of the guidelines included in it.
